The short version
An ecommerce platform for used and imported Japanese car parts, where the hard problem is not the checkout. It is helping someone work out whether a part fits their car.
The problem
Parts buyers do not search by product name. They search by their car, and often by its chassis code, which is not something a normal ecommerce platform understands. One physical part can fit a dozen different models across several years. Standard catalogue software treats that as a dozen products, which splits the stock and hides availability.
What the platform does
- Chassis code and vehicle search, so a buyer starts from their car rather than a part number
- One part, one stock pool, its own landing page for each vehicle it fits
- A public facing product code that is not the internal SKU
- Live freight quoting at checkout against real parcel dimensions, with a fallback to a manual quote where an item has not been measured
- A dispatch view built for the person packing, not for a manager
- An admin built for parts specialists, including duplicating a product as the starting point for the next one
